The matryoshka figures are hand turned from linden wood (also known as bass wood) and handpainted by an artist. Our nesting dolls come from Sergiev Posad, a village on the outskirts of Moscow, thought to be where the very first matryoshka was painted and known as the toy capital of Russia for its continued production of hand-crafted wooden toys and collectibles.
